But due to my honeymoon, I've been out of the country and wanted to get the REAL facts before I distributed this...... ANATHEMA - Duncan quits !! ========================== It seems to be common knowledge over the net already, but it is my duty to inform you that Duncan Patterson has left Anathema. Some of you will know that, due to mental health problems, he did not perform recently with the band to promote the new album release. We all hoped that he would get better quickly and resume his position. Devastatingly, the Cavanagh's (Vincent, Daniel, Jamie) mother died at the beginning of August. For which we offer them deep heartfelt sympathy. Duncan saw fit to use this time to announce his leaving the band to allow a permanent replacement to take over. This is former dreambreed guitarist Dave Pybus who has been standing in for Duncan for a while and also runs the fan club (which is useful). More surprisingly, perhaps, is the choice of ex - My Dying Bride member MARTIN POWELL as permanent violinist / keyboardist. With all this taking place in little more than a month, it has obviously messed up the tour schedule. Rather than cancel every date, the band are bravely playing all that they can, given present difficulties. Rather than view cancelled shows in a negative light, we are definitely taking the stand that now we have an Anathema line up in place to be able to tour properly, we can look forward to a long healthy future which sees the band getting to every country in it's own right, finally.
